At first, when the ref made the wrong call on Lampard's goal, I was pissed. I thought 'Hey! They still have a chance!' And then England seemed to think 'Defence? What the hell is defence? We don't need no stinking defence!' You know what? Thank GOD this is probably Terry's last world cup. Seriously, what the fuck were they doing? *shakes head*
IDEK. Terry was shocking and he and Johnson left poor Matthew Upson defending on his own a lot of the time, as they kept getting caught out in stupid positions. Terry should never have been taken to the World Cup, he was out of form and he had personal problems that were affecting his performances.
The Lampard decision was shocking, but I still reckon Germany would have beat us even if it was given. We were outplayed, though Germany's defence was a little shaky at times itself.
Rooney, I sort of felt bad for. He wasn't fully fit i don't reckon (he got an injury towards the back end of the Premier League season that kept him out a few games) so it was wrong for us to expect him to be this AMAZING player that he is when he is fully fit.
On the bright side, we knocked out by a consistently good team.
I has heard something about Terry and his personal problems (he slept with a player's wife or another player slept with his? I can't remember) but we don't really get a lot of info like that over here. Same with Rooney's injury, though we did get some of the premier and champions league on our sports network. I missed most of the matches because it was still fucking hockey season. I so hate that game.
But I digress. Their defence was horrible though I think James did really well, despite the 4 goals. I mean, he could only do so much on his own.
I was actually quite impressed with Lampard. Last World Cup I found him lacking. This time I thought he did really well, he just had some bad luck an not just with the bad call today. Seriously, how many times can the damn ball hit the post?
I think you're right that Germany would've won anyways. When I saw that that was who they were going to play, I already had a bad feeling as England hadn't been their best anyways and Germany has been so strong. I just kept thinking (at least until the 4th goal) that the score wouldn't have looked as bad if it'd been 3-2. The better team still won though. Hopefully in the next 4 years they spend some time building up a new team.
