I was niether bowled over nor was I bitterly disappointed by 'Known Unknowns'.

I haven't the vocabulary to make a long and well-rounded argument about the good parts and bad parts of the episode, so here is a pathetic list.

Good Stuff

- House/Wilson as always entertaining and moving in equal parts.
- House doing a nice thing and Wilson thanking him for it. More of that please.
- Chase/Cameron worked for me in this episode. Their storyline was strong this week
- Stoned Wilson and pantless Wilson worked and will always work for me.
- The guy dressed as Lloyd Dobler at the 80s party. That was a winning costume. Shame the scene itself induced much eye-rolling
- Grape Soda. I <3 grape soda
- Nice to be reminded that Cuddy in fact HAS a child
- Simpsons reference and inclusion of Metallica!!!! FTW!

Bad Stuff

- House/Cuddy. *rolls eyes*
- The random harbour shots/scenes.... um?!?! Why the harbour?
- The scene when Lucas/Wilson/Cuddy/House all sat round the table. That was just weird and just didn't work for me.
- Uninteresting patient plotline. This is a shame becasue I always liked the patient plots to intermingle with the character plots. It's something that has been lacking recently and this episode did nothing to change that.
- Cuddy characterization seemed a little off in this episode to me.
- Bad acting courtesy of patient.

So on the whole some parts were great. I mean the entire House/Wilson arc was great to watch, even Chase/Cameron/Foreman held their own. Unfortunately my enjoyment, and thus the awesomeness of the episode,  was overshadowed by the constant Huddy love mess BEING RAMMED IN MY FACE!!

Huddy = DO NOT WANT!

I agree with your likes and dislikes. I was shocked at the fact that House sat at that table and took listening to Lucas spew out his breakdown in detail. WTF House do something. Even Wilson gave Cuddy a look that said shut your stupid boyfriend up. Loved H/W but the ep sank from there. Oh well, we can still look forward to 10 and 11 though I'm sure those will have Huddy shoved in our face as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

Yeah the whole cafe table scene was just a bit jarring I felt. It wasn't a bad epiosde by any stretch... but it just felt lacking in something.

Agree with almost every one of your points.

I know this is sacrilege, (go ahead, mock me) but I was okay with the 80s dance. Guess I'm a sucker when House and Cuddy act like adults. For the first time, the smile on Cuddy's face looked genuine.

Thought it interesting that among the Holy Trinity, Wilson was the most erratic and emotional. Usually, he's the grounding influence.

The coffee shop scene was strange. Again, cutting to Wilson's reactions, I couldn't quite make out what that was about. Possibly, Wilson couldn't understand how Cuddy would choose Lucas over House?

About the "harbor" shots. This was a lakeside setting with a dock. Actually filmed at a resort up at Lake Arrowhead in California.

Which reminds me, I was wondering if the Cameron/Chase scenes at the hotel were possibly the same resort. An opportunity to cut expenses.

I agree, if there HAS to be huddy, we might as well look on the bright side and admit that the 80s dance was decent enough. House was being sweet and not trying to walk all over Cuddy, which means Cuddy didn't just let him (as she usually does) walk all over her, which means less embarrassment for us.

"Thought it interesting that among the Holy Trinity, Wilson was the most erratic and emotional."
I know right? Suddenly it was Wilson doing stupid spontaneous things, being all ballsy and not regarding the consequences. I guess the guilt had been getting him all worked up and desperate. I felt sad for him :(

"About the "harbor" shots."
Sorry, what are harbor shots? I have no idea what people are talking about with that D:

Harbor shots/scenes --I was picturing the scene at sunset. House walks out to Wilson who is standing at the end of the dock.

I guess the guilt had been getting him all worked up and desperate. I felt sad for him :( --So did I. Maybe I'm reaching, but I was wondering if this was foreshadowing for future episodes. First there is Wilson's shrine and his bedtime chats with Amber. Now, he's feeling, what? Burned out? Contemplating career suicide? Maybe these will impact 6.10 or 6.11? Maybe not. Maybe it was just about House and Wilson finally opening up to each other. I'm good with that too.

Oh thanks, I thought that scene was pretty cool, I liked the place.

DEFINITELY. I didn't think episode 7 was gonna have to do a lot with future episode, but now that I've watched it I'm convinced that it has a lot to do with what we're gonna see on episode 10. Wont go further on this in here, cause they are spoilers :/

You know what, I actually enjoyed the first bits of the 80s dance scene. House's outift had me laughing as was the way he moved the other man away who was hitting on Cuddy.

"The coffee shop scene was strange. Again, cutting to Wilson's reactions, I couldn't quite make out what that was about." That's exactly the vibe I was getting. It was just odd and a bit uncomfortable to watch especially when Lucas was just spewing personal details.

"This was a lakeside setting with a dock. Actually filmed at a resort up at Lake Arrowhead in California." I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing that out.

I do agree that Wilson's erratic behaviour was the most interesting aspect of the whole episode. I am curious to see how it all projects onto future episodes.

I agree with all your good stuff list :D

What Simpsons reference? =O
Metallica FTW indeed!

"Huddy = DO NOT WANT!"
Seconded.

"What Simpsons reference? =O" House referred to Cuddy's breasts as Patti and Selma...as in Marge Simpson's sisters. "Always smoking" I think he said. It was pretty amusing.

OH I was so happy when they played Fuel my Metallica. I was drumming along myself ;)

I loved the H/W scenes and to be honest - I don't care about much else. Totally agree with you on the good stuff list. :)

Well they are always the best stuff to be honest. As already said it wasn't a bad episode but there was definitely room for improvement.

I think we are all pretty united on that front. Although [livejournal.com profile] bery26 made a good point. I mean if we must HAVE Huddy then at least make it bearable.

Well. My understanding of this episode is though now .. well, Huddy needed some form of closure. We all knew anyway that House isn't going to change for Cuddy. And it was obvious that Cuddy needs someone reliable and all. (I agree with you, nice to see her as a mom though. I do find that cute.) So, all in all, WE knew all along that Huddy may be a nice, even sexy concept (for some or even most people), but that it just wouldn't work for them. WE can see which two people are really made for each other. But I think it was neccessary to have a line there, a point where we know that it's really not going to go anywhere. And now that we had that .. our characters can move on.

I just .. I dunno. I was getting fed up with Wilson pushing him. I know that was the reason now why House found out about Lucas, but .. is it so wrong to want Wilson to get his act together already and realise that he and House belong together? I guess it's not, right?

I'm rambling. Sorry. ;)

It's definitely not. I wholeheartedly agree with that. Whether it is what TPTB will do is another thing.

Don't apologise for rambling, lol. It's nice to see someone else take on the episode. I do hope the Lucas/Cuddy thing will possibly draw a line under the House/Cuddy stuff. Although I have a feeling it will be another catalyst to bring House/Cuddy together. I hope it's not, because i reckon Lucas/Cuddy would work pretty well.

Well, if this show was really inspired by Holmes and Watson, and it's true what they say about Holmes ever only truly caring about Watson, then .. obviously House/Cuddy is just there for drama & sexy times.

In this respect I know the creators know what the real pairing of this show is, even if they may never actually go there.

Now if someone of them admitted that to me, I think that would be satisfying somewhat. I'm probably alone with that one, but it would just mean that at we {hilson shippers} aren't wrong about seeing it.

I like. Rambling. :D

And yes. Lucas/Cuddy seems to be a perfect fit already. Why ruin something that works just fine. ;)
