My sides are hurting out of sheer joy and the amount of laughter that has just escaped my persons.
I know the name Paul Ross probably won't mean much to anyone who doesn't watch British morning television, but this was just too amusing not to share. As Wikipedia points out Paul Ross is the older brother of the ever popular talk-show host Jonathan Ross, unfortunately for Paul he's not as good at his younger brother. Basically Paul Ross does a radio show in London and recaps/gives spoilers about the British soaps on morning television. Occasionally he will be given one of those talking head spots on some randon arse list show like "100 Greatest Movie Moments" or "100 Greatest Female Moustaches" or whatever.
Not long ago a meme surfaced containing a link to Amazon, who were selling a canvas print of him. This causes much amusement...I mean who the hell would want him on their wall!?!? So people started leaving sarcastic and awesome comments. Some of these comments are of truly epic proportions. I urge you to give yourself a good laugh and read them.

Some of my personal favourites:
"Earlier this year my home suffered from subsidence, resulting in one wall losing all it's plaster revealling nasty brickwork beneath. I chased a lot of quotes from plasterers, and they were hideously expensive so instead I bought a whole wall full of canvas prints of Paul Ross and saved money. Now not only do I not have to look at rough ugly bricks but Paul Ross' charming visage greets me from every angle brightening my day."
and
"I have been searching high and low for a 22" canvas portrait of Paul Ross sitting on a picnic bench and drinking from a Thermos flask (circa 1998) for the past 6 or 7 years. Although not the transcendental image I have been seeking, this 20" canvas print of Paul Ross sitting at a metal table drinking water circa 2001 has proved a satisfactory remedial piece."
There is also a review rambling on about haunted houses and moaning pipes.
This thing has brightened my entire day. :D

Date: 19/11/2009 04:06 pm (UTC)I recently purchased this poster, and while it's lifelike, well made and had a certain, portly charm to it, I have since found out that it's actually *cheaper* to hire Paul Ross to come over and stand against a wall, whenever you feel the need to look at him.
Now, I must go find something to do that adds value to the universe--like taking out the garbage.
Thanks for the laugh.
